COUNTY PROFILES: Help End Kamba Music Piracy, Kaningo Boys Star Tells MP Mulyungi

MWINGI: An upcoming Kamba benga musician and Kaningo Boyz Band Leader Mwenze Matei popularly known "Kitiku" is calling on Mwingi Central MP Hon. Gideon Mulyungi to help put measures in place towards ending music piracy in Kitui County.


Speaking in Mwingi after performing during MP Mulyungis 13,000 students bursary drive, Kaningo Boyz said most kamba musicians don't earn any stipends from the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK).


'We as benga musicians drawn from Mwingi Sub-County are humbly requesting our able MP, whose Manifesto includes uplifting youth and women, to start working in tandem with MCSK officers to end music piracy in mwingi and ensure we get the value from our music" said the artiste speaking to the MP Director of Communications Patrick Kimanzi at Mwingi Gardens last week.

The popular Kaningo Boyz Band has produced four albums including 'Ajali ya Kanginga, Thina Nduaa, Wlimwengu and Watho Wa Umau.

"Am also appealing to our able MP Mulyungi to help me produce a commemorative video to my popular audio Ajali Ya Kanginga whose audio a playing in all mejor radio stations across Ukambani" added Kitiku also known as "Rasta Mweenze"
